Hi I'm Rachel

I have lived in three different countries. I love art and music. I'm a history teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the United States but have spent time in London, England and Edmonton, Canada. I recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in History Teaching. I am passionate about education, art, music, and traveling. I love to laugh and find there is so much joy to life.

Why I am a Mormon

A few years ago I was walking on a beautiful fall day, the wind was gentle blowing, the leaves were changing, and the air was crisp. As I looked around at my glorious surroundings I was struck with the powerful realization that such beauty must come from a loving Heavenly Father. Each flower, tree, and cloud, testifies to us that God is there and He loves us. I recalled a scripture in Alma where Alma, a missionary, discusses signs with Korihor, an unbeliever. Korihor tells Alma to show him a sign that God is there and then he would believe. I love Alma's response: "Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator." I testify that all things do testify of God. Evidence of His love is all around us if we open our eyes and see all the good things that God has done. I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ is another testimony that God lives and loves us. Through the restored gospel we understand who we are, God's eternal plan for us, His children, and that through Jesus Christ we can repent, be healed, and return to live with God. There is no greater joy that comes than from living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is something that I seek to do each and every day. My faith influences how I interact with other people and how I respond to different situations. I volunteer at my cities art museum and for the brief time I am there each week I try to help others feel in some small way that they are important children of God.
