Hi I'm Nathan McDonald

I grew up in Southern California and currently go to school in Hawaii. I love to play sports and be with family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently am studying to become a Dentist. Apart from studying and working, I enjoy going to the beach, surfing, playing any sports, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints among the Latin people and learned Spanish. I am a huge sports fan. I love watching and following the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox. I am currently single and just enjoying the experiences and opportunities that come my way. I love helping others and making people smile. I feel a smile goes a long way and not only in helping others but yourself as well. I find that I'm a positive person yet I know that life is hard and I try to just push through the hard times. I am thankful to have the support of my family in all that I do.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents both came from families that had relations to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and were Mormons but not active in any sense. However because of the strength of my parents and desire to get to know God, I was fortunate and blessed to have grown up in the gospel and be a Mormon. However, I also faced my own trials to really stand up for the church and my own standards through high school among my peers and even my own close friends. It wasn't easy but during these trying times is when I really came to know my God and my Savior Jesus Christ. I have a strong relationship with both of Them as I have prayed endlessly to obtain one with them that I may know Their will for me. I continue to be Mormon and follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ because of the peace that entered my heart as I felt a need to repent of my sins that held me down in a state of sadness and despair. I love my Savior and I know that He suffered that He may know how to help me and I have felt that love and the guidance of His hands in restoring peace and happiness into my life. I trust Him with my life and that through Him I return to live with my Father in heaven one day. I am thankful for my parents that were good examples and encouraged me to obtain my own testimony through their actions and support. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and I trust the feelings that I felt as did those things and pondered its message. I know that my Father in heaven sent His Spirit down which is referred to as the Holy Ghost and it spoke to my heart telling me these things were true. I know that it supports the Bible and with both we can truly know of the mission of our Savior and His desire for us all. He is our light and truth. He guides us through a living prophet today and follow his teachings and those of the prophets of old we will be guided for good. As we follow our Savior we will be saved.

How I live my faith

I love my faith through my service to others. I strive to use wholesome words although I am not perfect. I constantly analyze myself to make sure I am on the straight and narrow path of God and that I am doing His will. I love serving and helping people in any way possible. I currently assist in the missionary efforts in my ward and community which is a blessing for me. I served a mission and loved it. Serving among the Latin people was one of the greatest events in my life as I learned so much and grew even more. My relationship with my Eternal Father grew so strong that I now strive to help others obtain that same relationship by sharing my experiences with those younger than me and older to keep them strong. I perform home teaching where I visit certain people every month to assist in any help they need and to ensure their stability spiritually, mentally, financially and in the family. I have had countless opportunities to serve and help others.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Nathan McDonald
Joseph Smith Jr. was a young man born in upstate New York in 1805. He came from a family where his parents taught him to pray, read the Bible, have faith in God and go to church. At an early age he found himself wondering why there were so many beliefs if there was only one God and he asked himself which of all the sects was true or if any of them were true at all. One morning he woke up before the morning chores began and went into a grove of trees where he knelt in verbal prayer to his Father in heaven. During his prayer, God the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to him and taught him that non of the churches were true. Three years later at age 17 he was visited by heavenly messengers and was taught more about Gods plan to restore the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was called as a prophet of God to restore Christ's true church and gospel and to bring forth an ancient record called the Book of Mormon which is a record of the people here in America just like the Bible is a record of the people in Jerusalem.
