Hi I'm Kathy

I'm a military spouse and stay-at-home mom to 2 energetic girly girls, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Germany because my dad was in the US Air Force, and after moving around our family settled in Colorado where I grew up most of my life. I went to college and there met my husband and best friend. We have been married almost ten years. After my daughter was born I decided to wait to get my degree so I could be at home with her and I'm looking forward to going back to school when the time is right. My time is well spent getting to be a full time mom to 2 adorable and active girls, and being a wife. My husband is working on his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering right now and he has been deployed to Afghanistan. The military life has made our life interesting and been a blessing for us. Some things about me, I like to have fun! I enjoy singing, cooking, a good laugh, good movies, dates with my husband, time with my family and friends, and when I get the chance, reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon faith, but I feel that I have had a testimony all of my life. For the most part I've tried to do what I believed was right, and like everyone else I have made mistakes, but I had the teachings of the Church to plant my feet on. As a teenager I wanted to know for myself whether what I had been taught was true. I believed that if I asked God, like Joseph Smith did, I could know for myself if the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were true or not. I wanted to be sure. The answer to my prayers and study came in a quiet but powerful reassurance that I had always known the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were true. I could never deny the answers to prayers I have received from God. I've seen the fruits of my faith and known of the happiness the Gospel brings. From the time I was little and even from stories of when I was a baby, I have been able to see God's hand in my life. I have felt that He knows me personally and loves me. Through His Spirit I know for myself that God lives and loves each of us. An evidence of His love is that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to be our example and our Savior. Christ had enough love for us all to suffer for our sins and it is only through him that we can live with God after this life. I know from my own life experience that through Christ’s Atonement I can be cleansed from sin, be healed, strengthened, and succored. The Gospel has given me the knowledge of who I am, why I'm here, my purpose, where I'm going, and who I should be like. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been a firm foundation and a source of knowledge, comfort, and peace for me and my family in this ever changing world.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life in a way that I am true to the things I know are right and to keep my promises to God. I try to keep in remembrance the many ways he has blessed my life and the things he has made known to me. I try to live my faith by relying on God no matter what. My relationship with God is important, so I strive to be close to him through prayer, scripture study, and obeying his commandments. Life is always changing and can be challenging, but my faith helps me take one step at a time. I try to do the best I can in all the different roles I have realizing that this life is about progression. I'm trying to be like Jesus. Part of trying to be like Jesus is service, and I serve in my church. As members we are asked to volunteer our time and means to serve in the church, and to all of God's children around us. I am a visiting teacher to a few women, which means I go to their homes and share a spiritual message, and serve them and their families the best I can. In addition to being a visiting teacher I am serving and teaching the youth, the young women ages 12-18, and I love it! They are all so precious and have a light about them, and I learn a lot being around these wonderful young ladies. I also try to serve those around me, especially my family, and to be watchful of other's needs no matter who it is or where I am. I feel that to live my faith, I must strive to live the teachings of Jesus Christ to the best of my ability.
