Hi I'm Jean!

I'm a Mom, I'm a Missionary, I live in Mantua, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been married for over 40 years. I'm a mother of 8 (6 living) children, grandmother of 11. I love spending time with my family. We enjoy going camping, riding ATV's and playing games together. I love to shop, read, knit, & write histories. I love to travel, and go on road trips in our '65 Cobra. I collect frogs and bells. I do alot of indexing for the church's Family Search website. I was a stay at home mom while my children were growing up, later I was a reading tutor at an elementary school, and a bus driver / dispatcher for a Senior Center. I have volunteered for many years at our local hospitals. I have served in most all of the auxillaries of the church and am currently serving as a Senior missionary with my husband in Richmond Virginia.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in Central Utah and now live in Northern Utah. I have been a member of the church all of my life. I married my husband right out of High School in the Temple. The church has always played a huge role in my life, but it wasn't until about 6 years into our marriage that I realized just how much it meant to me. That's when our 3rd child who was just 11 months old suddenly and unexpectedly died in a freak accident at home. Our whole life was turned upside down, and was one of the hardest trials I have ever had to go through! But it also became one of the most spiritual experiences I have ever had in my life. The comfort that I received from the Holy Ghost was so incredible, I would love to feel as close to my Savior now as I did when I was going through that trial. The knowledge that I have of God's plan for us brings so much comfort to me and lets me know, that I will raise not only that daughter, but also another baby daughter that was stillborn at 6 mo. I know that they are already with our Father in Heaven, and now it is up to me to do everything I can by keeping the commandments and enduring to the end to be able to be with them some day. My hope and prayer is that ALL of my children will have the desire to do the same so we can live as an eternal family.

How I live my faith

I know what it is like to be "crazy" busy with 6 children all going to different schools, participating in sports, church activities, lessons for various things, scouts, etc.! I remember having one in college, 1 in High School, 1 in Jr. High, 2 in Elem. and one at home! It's enough to make you want to pull your hair out!!!! And.... your husband is out of town on a business trip, a scout camp, or serving in church callings. I used to think, will it EVER end? I'm here to tell you that, Yes, it does, and before you know it they are all grown and gone raising their own families! I remember telling myself "It won't always be this way!" and it wasn't. We all have to go through different seasons in our lives, and being a young mother is one of the most difficult but also one of the most rewarding times of our lives. The next season, that of being a grandmother, is especially rewarding. I love my family more than anything and am so grateful to my Father in Heaven for allowing me to give them the gift of life and to teach them how they can return to His presence some day.
