Hi I'm Daniel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 49 year old male married to a woman who has recently become a lawyer. We have three children a boy who will be going on a mission soon a girl who is a senior in high school and a girl in grade one. I am retired with a disability. I use to work as a store manager for a large super market chain. For a while I even got to help train new managers. We use to live in the south but now live in the northern US. I was born and raised in the country in Canada. After being married for a while we moved to the southern states but moved to the northern states so my wife could attend law school after I had to quit working do to a disability. I enjoy working on family history. I also enjoy indexing and doing arbitration work for family search. I like to spend my down time reading. I am a huge sports fan of most sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church to converts, I like everyone else had to find out for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the true Church of a living Savior even Jesus Christ. In my case I had to find out before I went on a Mission. I remember praying and reading the Book of Mormon time and again waiting to have the Big witness that this was a work of our Heavenly Father and the the Church was also the Church of our Savior. I did not feel that I was having this experience and kept praying and reading and waiting. Then finally one day after I had prayed and started reading it came to me, nothing big, just a very warm feeling and the words came to me as clear as if someone was in the room talking to me, the words were, "Why do you keep asking questions that you already know the answer to, you know the Book of Mormon is true and you know that this is the Lord's Church. You know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and we have a Prophet on the earth today." Since that day I have lived knowing that our Heavenly Father loves us as much today as He did his children 2000 years ago. He has given us the same Church as He gave them, he has given us a Prophet as He did His children of old and he has given us his word by them as well as in the Bible and Book of Mormon. I feel blessed to have been able to serve a mission and to later be Married in a Temple of the Lord. My wife and I are thankful to the Church for the direction we have received in the raising of our children. The Lord through his Church give great guidelines and helps to not only how we should live but also how to raise and direct our children. With continuing revelation our Prophet leads in the direction that the Lord would have us travel. It is this continuing revelation that continually re-confirms my Testimony that this is the true Church, the Church that has been reestablished here on the earth in the latter days.

How I live my faith

During my life I have constantly taught of the importance of service. Because of these teachings I have put in many hours of community service such as work with different chamber of commerce and the United Way, even serving as President of the local United Way for a term. I have also helped plan and worked in community events. I have been able to serve in many capacities in the Church over the years such as leader of youth groups, Sunday School President, Councilor to a Bishop and my favorite being a Home Teacher. A Home Teacher visits the homes of members and teaches them concepts of the Gospel. A Home Teacher also watches out for the families that they visit and are a resource for the family in any capacity that they may need. Since I have retired I now like to work on Family History. To this end I have now found a new way to volunteer, I now do volunteer work for Family Search.org, indexing and arbitration work helps make records available to those doing genealogy work.
