Hi I'm Fei

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in China, did my high school and college study in Brazil, and now I'm doing my PhD in Wisconsin, US.

About Me

I am an energetic guy. I enjoy sunshine, new experiences, and having fun with my friends. Sometimes I can get very quiet though, maybe because of my introvert side. At the moment, I'm doing PhD in Family Economics. After I graduate, I wish to apply the knowledge I'm learning to helping people, especially the least advantaged ones.

Why I am a Mormon

My joining in the church was somewhat accidental. I was looking for a native English speaker to practice my English before I left Brazil to the US. One friend of mine was from the church and introduced me to the American missionaries that were serving in the ward at that time. I asked them to be my English tutors, and they agreed immediately. Even better, free of charge! I couldn't believe (or understand) that at the beginning, since learning English with native speakers was quite expensive in Brazil. But that's true! The only "cost" they charged was to teach me the gospels which I had no idea about at the time. After some classes, I realized that the English tutoring was actually less intriguing to me than the gospel learning. Learning and discussing about the gospel was a whole new experience that I have ever had. It was enlightening. And I felt the strongest spirit ever from the missionaries. I did some home visits with them and the way they brought peace and hope to the neediest deeply touched me. Before that, I once thought such pure, good, and beautiful virtues have gone away from us for long long time. But I realized this was untrue. There are so many people still holding to the virtues and practicing the good. And the best part of the story: I CAN BE ONE OF THEM! Shortly after, I got baptized. And It's been almost two years since then. I just feel so so blessed by that - by the baptism, by our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I have been serving in the church for more than one year. I do hometeaching to 6 members of my ward. It is a monthly talk with the individual so that we can share the spiritual thoughts and make sure our brothers and sisters are doing okay, spiritually and financially. Though I am a hometeacher, I learn more from my hometeachees than they learn from me - at least I think so. Besides that, I also serve as the secretary of the boys' group in the ward. I'm in charge of communicating important announcements and upcoming church programs to the brothers in the ward. It is a good way to learn to serve others, while keeping myself committed to the church activities as well.
