Hi I'm Mindy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a faithful scientist (striving towards a degree in Theoretical Physics and Astronomy) and single mother. I grew up in an Agnostic/Atheist family and found my way to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints against the tide. I went to several churches beforehand and studied philosophy in depth. All that I believe to be good, true and sensible, I find in this religion much more so than anywhere else. Being a member of the church truly enriches my spirit. I love to read, to make art, to teach, to make music, to dance and sing, to write, to play sports. I love just about everything in life. Debating, cooking, psychology, discussing philosophy... You name it. I've worked as a graphic designer for a couple years although I am mostly self-taught in the industry. My son means the world to me. I love him very much. I strive to be a better person at least a little bit everyday and he helps push me to do so. Life is not easy; nonetheless, I have a wonderful time enjoying it. I'd have to say that laughing and being immersed in music are my favourite activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been in and out of domestic violent relationships all of my life but have resurfaced. I've also faced some trivial health concerns during those times. Being a member of the church is a dream come true. It contains all of the goodness that I've always imagined existed. It makes so much sense and fills my heart. I particularly like the 13th Article of Faith: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." The Church is an amazing support system for me. I've never seen another church extend such generosity and friendliness. Sunday is my favourite day of the week and Church is my favourite place to go because I feel Heavenly Father especially with me at those times. I am very reverent to have the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. I hope others find their way into the church like I did because it will be the best thing you could ever do. I was recently baptized on February 18th, 2012.

How I live my faith

I received a calling soon after I was baptized to be the Music Conductor (there is a different name for it but I'm not sure what it is). It makes me very happy to feel needed and to be a part of something I so deeply love - the hymns. Before I joined the church I recognized how amazing it felt to extend help and service out to others. Being a member brings so much more depth to that life calling and enables me to help many more people and feel more appreciated in doing so. It brings purpose into my life to be involved. So, I try to participate in every church activity that I can. I always feel more energized and fulfilled when I do, even if it's a Chapel cleaning. Everyday I read the scriptures and pray. Before I was baptized it seemed like this was a daily effort. Now it is a daily stress-relief. Having faith in God and our Saviour is the only force strong enough to lift life's burdens. We are not alone. God and the Saviour provide endless love and support if we but ask it of them. I have learned in my life that even in darkness, God is with us and he will answer your prayers. I testify to this being true.
