Hi I'm Alex

I'm a convert, I'm from Seattle, I love the beach, and I'm a mormon!

About Me

I am currently a sophomore in college studying child development. I want to become a Child Life Specialist in a children’s hospital. I have an amazing family and I love spending time with them. I love the outdoors, summer time, hiking, and relaxing all day on the beach. I also enjoy watching movies and traveling. And I love the church, and all the blessings it has brought into my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am mormon because I have a wonderful friend who introduced me to the church. Growing up, my family never really belonged to any church. But I still believed in God even though my family was not very religious. I absolutely loved the church the very first time my friend brought me with her. So I studied the scriptures and prayed to know for myself if the church was true. I got baptized about a year and a half ago and I am so grateful that I did. I’ve read the Book of Mormon and prayed about its truthfulness. I know it’s true! And no matter how many times I read it, I always find personal direction for whatever I am going through in my life at that moment. There is no other thing in this world that will give you the constant peace and happiness that the gospel of Jesus Christ will give you. My belief in Jesus Christ and the love I know He has for me has changed my life and His love gives my life value. The gospel answers all questions. I can’t imagine trying to go through this life without the gospel in my life, especially with all the trials that come up in my life. But I know that no matter how difficult the trial, it can be fought through. If I live the gospel then I will have eternal joy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my very best to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I also read my scriptures, pray, and go to church every Sunday. Every Sunday I can go to church and feel the spirit, and know that my Heavenly Father loves me and that I have a purpose here on earth. I do not know where I would be without the church. My long term goals are to get married in the temple, become a mother, and raise a family in the gospel. The gospel is the most important thing in my life. And I don’t know how I would live without it.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We do not worship Joseph Smith. We only worship Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God that was chosen to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ. We don't worship him. Just like how the people of Israel respected what Moses did for them, but they did not worship him. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes and yes! Family relationships can last forever, they are not just for this life. We get married in the temple so that we can be sealed to our spouse so that our families can be together forever. Jesus Christ gave power to His disciples to seal families together forever when He said, "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 16:19). The relationship we have with our loved ones should not just be over when we die. The Lord revealed to Joseph Smith that the "same sociality which exists among us here will exist among us there [in eternity], only it will be coupled with eternal glory" (D&C 130:2). I am so grateful that when I get married someday, I can be sealed to my husband for time and all eternity and that we can have an eternal family. Show more Show less
