Hi I'm Mitchell

I'm an Oregonian. Virginia is good too. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Oregon. I like trees, rain, the coast. I collect cd's. I'm the oldest of two. Being outdoors is always fun. I want to make it a tradition to climb a mountain every year. Reading takes up part of my time.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up a member of Christ's Church. But I for myself, like everyone else will at some point discover, believe it to be what the name says, "The Church of Jesus Christ." Thinking about it, my testimony has not come by one spectacular event. Rather, it has come through soft, quiet moments, when the Spirit has touched my heart, most often expressing the great love of God. For me it's grown to be all about His love. The love of God is the only thing that can change people into what we are meant to be. I find true joy in living the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has put in me a love for others, and a desire to serve. Something so good could only be from God.

How I live my faith

I've served as a primary teacher for the five-year old's. That was a lot of fun. I've also enjoyed serving as the chorister for our Sacrament meeting on Sundays. I grew up going to the different youth activities our church has weekly. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is meant to make us into something better. I have a lot to improve at, and so the teachings of Christ are perfect for me. I try to use them to improve my relationships with my family, and everyone else.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is literally our Father, and He loves us. We are never alone, because He is always reaching out to us, doing all he can to help us through this life, so we can one day live as an eternal family. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

I believe in Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, the one and only way to have peace in this life, and salvation in the world to come. Every good thing is because of Him. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

A scripture from the Book of Mormon, Jacob 2:8, describes scripture as being "the pleasing word of God... the word which healeth the wounded soul." Another, Alma 44:5, tells them as being "the sacred word of God, to which we owe all our happiness." Answers, direction, peace, can all be found in the scriptures. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

It's a commandment taught in the scriptures. By living any commandment God can bless us, and that is more than true for this one. I heard it explained one time that it is far better to have our 90% and the help of God, than to have simply our 100%. The money donated is used for things like the spreading of the Gospel or humanitarian work, not as any kind of salary for those who are leaders or serve in the Church. Show more Show less
