Hi I'm Doug.

I'm AWESOME and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Father of 5, Grandfather of 3, originally I was planning to be a Physicist (because I love it) but then switched over to Information Technology (You'll pay me how much to do what? I can do that.). I love to read and I'm a gamer - video, board, and real gaming (RPGs). I used to teach Astronomy in college. I'm a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. I run an IT Consulting company, bringing "big company" IT experience to small and medium businesses. I've worked in Manufacturing (primarily) with some Distribution and R&D thrown in for good measure. I'm an advocate of the Theory of Constraints (TOC). I'm a fan of movies and I have cool shirts.

Why I am a Mormon

After searching around to many different churches, I was found by a pair of Mormon missionaries. They taught me things that I had never heard before but filled in the gaps and answered so many questions I had had. Suddenly the Gospel,.and religion in general, made sense and became very real, in a tangible way that I never knew was possible. The Spirit confirmed to me the truth of what I was hearing and filled my entire self with an overflowing joy. I have had many additional experiences since that early time that have further strengthened my testimony and helped me grow in understanding of how God works with us. I continue to learn and grow and overcome my weaknesses because of the Savior Jesus Christ and through His Atoning power.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving in the Church in several capacities. I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster for our local Boy Scout Troop (for the past decade). I often speak with the youth, or with adults, and am sometimes called upon to speak to folks in other settings. I am also currently serving as a Bishop (leader of a local unit / congregation) and have been greatly blessed by the opportunity. I try very hard to be the best Bishop, not the best I can be, but the best one. I still have a way to go, but with the Lord's help I'll make it.
