Hi I'm Leah

I am a Texan girl working on school and figuring out what to do with my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student living far away from home. I am single but hope to one day have a family of my own. I still am confused about what to do with my life, but trust that Heavenly Father has a plan for me. I love mathematics and engineering. I love trying to figure out how things work. I enjoy sports of all sorts, especially basketball. I love to play, coach, and watch. It has been a part of my life since I was little. I have many brothers so when we get together life usually turns to sports. I am currently living in Indonesia serving as a missionary for the church. It is fun to see other cultures and how other people live. I enjoy seeing life from other people's point of view.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church since I was born. My family have been members since the beginning of the church, but there can a time in my life when I needed to choose if it was going to be something I was going to stay with or just give up on. As I pondered that question, I looked at many people's lives of those around me. I noticed that the happiest people in my life, my mom, dad, closest friends, were those who held tight onto the teachings and standards found in the LDS church. And those people who really weren't the happiest were those whose lives were out of control. They had no direction. They just had no light inside of them. I noticed this trend in many people that I knew, and I can to the conclusion that true happiness came from living inside the commandments that God has given to us. And since I made that decision, even though my life hasn't been perfect or stress-free, I have been happy. Despite the heartaches and headaches I have experienced I can see God blessing and leading my life each day. I know that God loves all of His children and I know that He blesses us with some many wonderful things when we follow His commandments.

How I live my faith

I have participated in many ways in the church. I have taught children and taught adults. I have helped plan activities for the women of the church and also for the children. It is fun to serve in all of these capacities. It is fun to learn and grow in ways that you couldn't outside of the church. Right now as a missionary I am serving to help bring people closer to Christ. It is fun and always a great experience. I love how much I learn and grow in this church.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Leah
The role of the Mormon missionaries is to help all people come closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. When missionaries come to your house they will share messages that will help you come closer to them. These messages will focus mainly on Jesus Christ and His role in our lives. They will teach you how you can return back to Heavenly Father one day through the Plan of Salvation for us. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Leah
Yes, I believe there is a prophet today to lead us and help us become closer to our Heavenly Father. I believe that God does not change and still loves all of His children so to me it just makes sense that we would have a prophet today. I am grateful that God has given us the opportunity to know His will today and grow closer to Him through a prophet. Our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, is called by God to be our prophet. He is the one, like Moses, that can lead us and help us know the commandments of God. I feel safe and blessed when I follow the prophet. Show more Show less
