Hi I'm Carrie

I like warm places. I love to be active. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The older I get, the more I try to get back to basics. I prefer to approach motherhood, nutrition, exercise, and play time as naturally as possible. I like to run barefoot, cloth diaper, birth naturally, eat stuff that grows from the ground or runs around on it, and wear as little makeup as I feel like I can get away with :) I have two energetic boys and another crazy one on the way. My life is completely out of my control, which is hard for someone like me who used to be a total planner and tried to control every aspect of it. My best friend is also my husband, whom I have been married to for almost 7 years. We chose to marry young and be young parents so that we can kick them out and invite the grandkids over ASAP!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I first chose for myself to be a Mormon when I was a senior in high school. I decided as I was nearing graduation that I should probably know for myself what God's truth was. I took it upon myself to read from the scriptures, primarily the Book of Mormon, and to sincerely pray to my Father in Heaven. I didn't sit down and read the entire Book in one lengthy sitting, nor did I have a magical vision amid one specific prayer, answering my questions. Instead, as I was inching my way through my personal prayer and scripture study, I took a step back and had a bit of an epiphany. When I asked the question "Is this book true?", I felt peace. When I asked the question "Is this NOT true?", I felt confusion and sadness. I realized as I continued to read the scriptures, that the way I felt the Spirit in my life was very different from how many people described it. I didn't have a burning in my bosom, a voice speaking to me, or anything dramatic. Instead, I felt peace, comfort, joy, and happiness. My life wasn't always perfectly peaceful, comforting, joyful, or happy - nor is it to this day. But when I do what my Father in Heaven has asked me to do, that is when I feel that same peace that I first felt for myself and all on my own almost 10 years ago now. Even through personal trials and hardships, and in an often uncomfortable world, I can always count on that feeling by living Jesus Christ's true gospel.

How I live my faith

I have so much fun working with the young children in my neighborhood. In the past, I've had the opportunity to teach them songs about our Savior, teach the crazy 1 to 3 year olds, play the piano and organ for them, and teach pretty much every other age group under 12. I can sincerely say I love it. Yes, they wear me out sometimes (especially when I'm pregnant, haha), but they truly bring such a special light to my life. Right now I'm able to work with the 9 year old boys in particular. They are crazy and so much fun. We learn about being better people, and they teach me about as much as I try to teach them. Kids are just the greatest teachers in my life, and no matter how much I think I know, they always bring me back down to earth and teach me a little humility :)
