Hi I'm Marla

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Provo, Utah. I have 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Even though I grew up in Provo, I attended schools both in Orem and Provo. The first three years I went to Page, next 4 to Edgemont, Junior High at Lincoln, and High School at Orem High. I graduated form BYU with a BS degree in Chemistry. I worked for three years after I graduated at Chemistry Stores at BYU. Then I got married and sealed in the Manti Temple. After I got married, I went back to school and got my teaching certificate. You might say this was my husbands and mine insurance policy. I had a daughter and a son in Provo while my husband completed his education at BYU. We then moved to Gooding, Idaho, where we lived for three years and had another son (born in Twin Falls). We then returned to Provo for more Education for my husband. While there we had another son. We finally moved to Texas and wound up in San Antonio where we now have a home. We had our last four children there (three more boys and and a girl). We served a mission in Russia 2011 to 2013. In Russia we lived in two different cities and served under two different missions and three different Mission Presidents. We now have 19 grandchildren 10 grandsons and 9 granddaughters. We have six out of our eight children married, and five of our sons have been on missions. We have now been called on a mission to Armenia/Georgia mission. We are looking forward to this mission. In preparation for this mission we sold our house.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight years old. I have always been an active member, and I want you to know that even though I grew up in the church and have been active I do have a testimony of the restored gospel. I do know that the Book of Mormon is true because I have read it many times and have prayed about it. I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith restored the Church in this the later days. I have a testimony of the prophets in these later days I do know that what they tell us to do will make our lives a lot easier and happier, if we don't question but follow what they say. I have a testimony of tithing and the word of wisdom these have enriched my life and gave me guidance and direction.

How I live my faith

In Russia we worked in the CES program, for those of you who do not know what the CES program is it is working with the youth (12-18) and the young single adults (19-30). Before we left on our mission we worked in the temple, distribution center, addiction recovery program, and I was the Family History Center Director. So our background is in many different areas. I have also been a Visiting Teacher and had many rewarding moments in Visiting the sisters.

In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in our Savior Jesus Christ and what he has done for each one of us. Show more Show less
