Hi I'm Karen Lyons

I'm a Mormon. I'm also a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and much more.... But most important, I AM A DAUGHTER OF GOD!

About Me

My name is Karen. I live in North Central Florida with my husband, David. I am a magician's assistant. I have 3 children, 2 on earth and an angel in heaven. I have 5 grandchildren. I have been a Mormon since 1973. I love to crochet, knit and scrapbook. I am a magician's assistant to my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

My family bounced around from church to church for the first 13 years of my life. We met a family through cub scouting when I was 13. When going through my moms files, we found that they were members of the church. I began babysitting for them the summer I turned 13. I borrowed a copy of the Book of Mormon and began reading it. My parents were invited to meet with the missionaries. A month after my parents were baptized, 3 of my 5 younger brothers and myself were baptized by our dad. I can't imagine being a member of any other church now. Knowing that we can be eternal families is what keeps me here. Knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me and has greater plans for me keeps me going each day. I have a daughter who died when she was 4 years old. Knowing that I can have the opportunity to raise her keeps me going. I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know we have a living prophet today, who guides the members in the way we should be headed.

How I live my faith

I try to set a good example for my family, friends and others that I come in contact with. I attend the Temple as often as I am able to do the work for my ancestors that is greatly needed and for others who do not have anyone to do this work for them. I love attending sacrament meetings. Taking the sacrament each week helps me to renew my baptismal covenants and keeps me focused throughout the week. In the past I have taught the younger children in Primary. I was first a Sunbeam teacher when I was 16 and loved being with the 3 year old children each week. I have taught older children in the organization and have served as Primary President, a counselor and teacher. I have served as Cub Scout Leader and Achievement Day leader for the 8-11 year old girls. My husband and I team taught the 8-9 year old class in Primary and were also consultants for the Family History Library. I love listening to our Prophet and other General Authorities and Church Leaders during General Conference. I try my best to put their messages in my daily life. I love attending the Temple with my husband to do work for our ancestors and working on my family history.
