Hi I'm Riley

I'm a Kentuckian. I'm a learner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from college and am now preparing to serve an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In school I studied Psychology and Family Sciences. I'm the third of five children, and I love being an aunt to my niece and nephew. In my spare time, I love reading, playing the piano, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that actively lived the gospel of Jesus Christ, but as I got older I realized that I had to discover for myself if the Church was true. Throughout middle school, high school, and college, I questioned my faith and searched for answers. Although it didn't come easily for me, I began to recognize answers to my prayers over time. As I studied the scriptures, went to church, and tried to live what I was taught in the gospel, I began to recognize the influence of the Holy Ghost. In small and simple ways the Spirit testified to me that the Book of Mormon and other scriptures were true, that the Prophet and Apostles (as well as other leaders) are truly called of God, that the Church is true, and more. Although it is not always easy to follow Christ, I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and that this is their Church.

How I live my faith

In high school I was blessed to serve as an organist for Sunday services, as well as to participate in youth group activities. While in college I had the opportunity to serve as an activity coordinator, an Institute president (Institute is a scripture study class for adults ages 18-30), and to fellowship with members and non-members alike.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Jesus Christ taught us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, not just our fellow Church members. He expects us (and our leaders encourage us) to reach out to all around us to offer service, love, and support. While missionaries are specifically called to reach out to the people in their mission areas to serve, all church members also reach out to their communities and neighbors in love and service.
