Hi I'm Dr Dave

I'm a Mormon. Well, we call ourselves members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or, LDS for short.

About Me

I'm 5'10" tall, 300 lbs (yeah, I know), blond hair, blue eyes, 60 years young, married, with 4 sons and 2 daughters; they range from 14 to 35. Three of my four sons served missions. My older boys are married in the Temple. My younger daughter is married and has her endowments, but husband is not LDS. I also have 7 granddaughters, 1 grandson, and a grandson "on the way" due June 2012. As a semi-retired college professor of physics and astronomy. I am also a writer. I live with my wonderful wife, Gail, and our youngest son, LukeAdam (14 years old). I have one older brother, three younger sisters, but I'm the only LDS member. All my children are members. I love outdoors activities, but I don't watch sports on TV. I like to play tennis, swim, hike, bicycle and power walk.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth, I began to search for God, and at age 14, He answered me. I asked what Church to join, but he told me to investigate many and then come back to Him with that question later. This I did when I was 19, and so, I joined the Church. Being LDS has made me a better son, brother, father, husband, and man. Not a perfect one, just better.

How I live my faith

I enjoy attending weekly Church meetings and doing whatever I am asked to do to help out. I also help others out, LDS or not, just because they need it. No rewards expected. You don't have to be a Mormon to be a good person, but if you are LDS, it may be a high priority! I obey the laws, commandments, rules, whatever, but they're easy to do... like not smoking or drinking liquor, or being immoral. And I love life. Being LDS has given me a whole deeper appreciation to life.
