Hi I'm LYNN

I'm LDS.

About Me

I'm the father of two beautiful girls. I am completely in love with my daughters. I'm a single dad, which makes life complicated sometimes. But, everything clicks into place when my kids and I are together. We love being silly and playing hard.

Why I am a Mormon

No gentle persuasion has ever changed my course. Only when my path has brought me to complete distruction did I ever consider another way. One dark day, I was sick from drinking, unemployed, nearly homeless, and 1,250 miles from any family or friends, and I called my dad. Father gave me his famous lecture #37 speech, "Son, if you're tired if living like this, read the Book of Mormon." Something like that. "Yeah right dad! Over fifteen years of lecture #37 and you're still going strong." I don't know why but I listened to my dad that last time. Several agruements later about beliefs and gospel principals, not knowing that these arugements were actaully each of us bearing testimony, I began to form my own understanding of the plan of salvation. I was reading 1 Nephi 13 On March 15, 2011, in this chapter Nephi sees a vision of Christopher Columbus, the American rebellion from England, and the restoration of the gospel with Joseph Smith. I remember thinking, "If there really is a battle on earth for the souls of man, considering the midieval Cathoic church killing anyone who spoke against them, and if this and other factors caused a period of apostasy, then the 1830s would be the only time the true gospel could have been restored." At 1:08 AM the Spirit grabbed me so stongly as if to say "LYNN! This is true. It's been here, right in front of you!" This moment has been an anchor of my testimony. I am so incredibly grateful for that night, and for the individual attention the Lord has given me to help me to find this truth.

How I live my faith

Today I'm back in Utah with my kids. Committing sin and falling into old habits is not an option. I cannot afford to lose the Spirit in my life. The Spirit is my guide and my sanity, and the Savior is my light. I will not go back to living in darkness, fighting against the world on my own. Knowing what the dust of the earth feels like has kept me here, and the only partial understanding of my potential with the Lord as my ally is my reason to obey.
