Hi I'm Sheal

I love being a Mormon!

About Me

I have to admit, I am pretty psyched to be creating a profile on Mormon.org. I love sharing things about myself and learning about others. It's hard to desctibe anyone, let alone youself, in 1500 charachters or less and do it justice, but I will give it my best shot. My name is Sheal (pronounced shale) and I am a lot of things. For starters, I am happily married to my soul mate and am a mother to 3 great kids. As if that isn't enough, I am also a full time student at the University of Southern Maine, majoring in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Although I love school...yes, I am a nerd, my passion is music. I started out as a classical and jazz vocal major in college about 11 years ago and LOVE singing. Running a close second to singing is being on stage. Musical theater is a huge part of who I am. Some other hobbies I have include sports, specifically baseball, football, and rollerskating as well as attending rock concerts! I have a wide variety of music tastes, including classic rock, 80's, and jazz. Some of my favorite artists include Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews Band, Michael Buble, Audra McDonald, Radiohead, and Josh Groban. My list goes on and on and on. All and all I am just an easy going girl who gets a long with just about everyone. I love having fun and joking around. I love hanging out with my best friend, who happens to be my husband..BONUS! and I like trying and learning new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know for a surety that this is God's true church on Earth. I have had that confirmed to me through His Holy Spirit, time and time again. I have a personal testimony that God knows me individually and wants only the best for me, as he does for all his children. I know my Savior died so that I could live again and so I would not have to suffer through my pains and trials alone. God loves us and gave us a plan to return to Him again. I am a Mormon because I know that by living these standards and following these teaching, I will be with Him again.

How I live my faith

Right now I live in an area that is not heavily populated with members of the church. That being said, I have been asked to do a few things in my congregation to help out. My first "job" is to teach music to the children in primary. I love this job! They are a blast to be with and we have a lot of fun....at least I do. My second responsibility is selecting the music for our congregation to sing each Sunday, as well as schedule special musical numbers....i.e. solos, duets, group numbers, to be sung during Sacrament meeting. My third and final responsibility is to direct our church choir. I have a lot of fun doing these "jobs". In the past I have been asked to teach lessons, but right now I am the music department...which suits me fine :)
