Hi I'm Connie

I was born and raised in a small midwest town in the bible belt. Now, I'm a Mormon and thankful for it.

About Me

I retired from a large automotive company after 31 years of service, so I spend my days working on my 15 acres of land with many gardens, my home and with my three grandchildren. When I have any free time, I love to read and do craft projects. I never have down time, I am always busy doing something. Now, I have even more to do, and I am thankful for those many challenges. I have always been busy, and I love being busy with a purpose.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormom because I met a wonderful Nurse who shared her faith with me while I was visiting my father in the ICU unit of a hospital in Arizona. Being from a small midwestern town, I didn't know any Mormons personally and wasn't familiar with their faith. Being a faithful servant in my own church, I felt that I would never change to anything else but said fine when she asked if she could call the missionaries in my area and have them share the truth of the restored gospel with me. Upon my return home, within hours, the missionaries where at my door introducing themselves and asking to set up a study time!. Wow I was a bit overwhelmed but agreed. Through the months (many) and a succession of many different missionaries, I gained a personal testimony that the restored gospel was indeed true. I had a longing to join the church, but because of issues at my own church and with my family, postponed my baptisim to a time that I deemed more fitting. During the time of waiting, I was tempted by satan to not follow through with my committent, to just keep with the known and accepted church and not create waves. Thankfully Heavenly Father would not allow that and he gave me a great peace and joy about my joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

How I live my faith

While I am still relatively new to the church I am blessed to be called in 2 areas and to be active with visiting teaching. My callings came within weeks of my baptisim and they seem to have been hand picked to grow me!!! But then they were: Heavenly Father had it already in order!. First of all, I was asked to be the Branch Missionary with my emphasis being on Public Relations for the Branch. I was able to have an opportunity that first week when a missionary came home from his two year committment. I was able to get that great accomplishment in our local paper thanking him for his committment and welcoming him back into our local branch! My second calling was as the single adult respresentative for our branch. As there are many single adults in our branch the need is great to be able to work with all of them to coordiante help where needed whether it be with something around the house or a case of the blues. It is a challenge to put together a network so that we can all assist each other when the need arises. I am also beginning to assist with the visiting teaching that the sisters do, my first opportunity will come in a week and I am looking forward to a time of great blessing and comradery for all of us. My joy comes from helping others and I am grateful for a church that is there to help me as I am willing to help others.
