Hi I'm Sherri

I'm a 46 year old mom. I am going back to school to earn my Masters degree. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Denver Colorado, but I have lived all over the U.S. and visited many countries outside the U.S. I really like to travel. I have been a stay-at-home mom for nearly 20 years, but I just recently decided it was time to go back to school. I will graduate with a Masters degree in Counseling soon, which is a great accomplishment for me. I look forward to working with people and making a difference in their lives. I currently teach an early morning seminary class to the high school students in my church. This is time consuming, but I love working with youth. I also enjoy gardening, reading, yoga and photography.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a Jewish household. I have always loved my religion to include it's heritage and culture. I still very much consider myself a Jewish girl, but now I have all those same beliefs, all that wonderful culture, plus something extra. My life was incomplete without a knowledge of my Savior Jesus Christ although I didn't know that. Eventually, my friends who were Mormons started sharing their beliefs with me. Their beliefs made a lot of sense to me. They challenged me to read the Book of Mormon which I found to be fascinating. I read it, and believed it was true. Then I did something I hadn't done in a long time...I prayed. Through reading the scriptures, praying, and visiting with other members and missionaries, I came to know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. Interestingly enough, it took a long time to believe that Jesus really was my Messiah. But when that knowledge came to me, I knew for sure, without any doubt at all that He lived and died for me and cares for me and blesses me each and every day. I love Him with all my heart and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week and feel the wonderful Spirit that is there. I dutifully serve whenever possible. I visit women who are in need of comfort. I teach the youth of our church every day at early morning seminary. I begin and end every single day of my life with prayer. I try to read the scriptures every day. I keep a prayer of gratitude in my heart at all times. I try very hard to work at overcoming my weaknesses. I attend the Mormon Temple whenever I get the opportunity to serve in that House of God.
