Hi I'm Karis Lake

I'm an outdoor enthusiast, health nut, and book nerd. I am serving a mission in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 8. I am the 3rd of 6 kids and will soon become an aunt for the first time! My family members are my best friends first and relatives second. Each and every one of them is growing and becoming their own person and I have the honor to become alongside them. I wouldn't want to give up that opportunity for anything. It is my belief that we were given this life as a gift and it should be treated as such. Therefore, I am by nature very open or laid-back and enjoy taking on life with energy and passion. Service, dedication, knowledge, hard work and creativity are things I truly value as I believe they pay homage to our Maker. People are one of my passions. Whether it is making them laugh or feel good about themselves, serving them brings me peace. It makes me more confident. No one knows the limits in which we are contained except ourselves. This life is my time to discover.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because its teachings and principles make me feel alive and fulfilled. This church brings something into this darkened world that not many things can. It brings peace, joy and absolute hope. It brings knowledge that you aren't alone and that Christ will always love you. Because of this gospel I know who I am, why I am here on this earth and what I can become. I have purpose! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives you a goal, it gives you a destination. It gives you hope that there is and always will be a light at the end of the tunnel. You aren't just going through the motions, living life halfway. It gives you the drive to fight for more.

How I live my faith

Faith is something that you have to work for and maintain. It isn't gained idly or without merit. For me, living my faith is all about integrating my will with the Savior's, trusting and living His prophet's counsel, giving thanks daily for my innumerable blessings and attempting to live up to the full potential of myself. Living your faith is about not quitting when things get tough and not being afraid of the unknown.
