Hi I'm Catherine Erickson

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Alohaaa, I'm a college student attending Brigham Young University- Hawaii. I love this island with my whole heart; it welcomed me to its shore's as an eager freshman and has taken real good care of me. It's beauty and spirit mesmerized another who eventually put a ring on my finger and married me for eternity. Hawaii is paradise, but doesn't take away all the struggles of life, just some. Working and studying, clocking in, clocking out, taking tests, taking hardly any naps, and taking care of a new husband is my reality. But those few sunset surf sessions, or days spent hiking to scenes of striking mountain ranges and unceasing ocean renews the knowledge of my own insignificance in this world and restores all the humility that a girl can feel. Life is hard but life is grande and I'm happy to be living it. Being the youngest of four in a family that is quickly expanding, I've never loved these people more. They are the people who make me feel so loved and appreciated. They lift me up and give me so much confidence. All that is left now to say 'about me' pertains to the most important of all, my enduring and undeniable gratitude and love for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know he broke the bands of death through his suffering in Gethsemane and did it willingly out of love for all mankind. I know he is the perfect example and if I follow him I'll be reunited again. I know this is true and will never be persuaded otherwise.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. I grew up in an amazing family with parents who live the gospel and love the Lord. They have taught me that following Christ brings the most happiness accessible in this life. I have found for myself that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and I strive to live it everyday.

How I live my faith

I live my faith my involving myself in goodness wherever it is present. I try every day to follow the example of Jesus Christ and generally try to act in ways that will please him. Even though I fail on a regular daily basis, I know that all I can do is my best. This includes attending church, meetings, and church activities every Sunday and throughout the week. I teach the Relief Society once a month and labor over lessons to share that will inspire the women to draw closer to the Spirit of Christ. I spend time with my family, the most important thing of all and seek spiritual relief and strength everyday from the words of the living prophets and those who have left behind a divine record-- The Book of Mormon.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Catherine Erickson
We need a savior or else we would never make it back to our Heavenly Father. Humans are naturally enemies of God and are carnal from the fall of Adam, which is why we are tempted by Satan. That is why we make mistakes and do things we wish we hadn't. Without someone who would take upon themselves the sins of all the world, we would never we worthy enough to live with God again. Jesus Christ suffered for the sins and sorrows of the world so that we are able to have the atonement and are able to depend of our sins. If we repent with a genuine turning of our hearts to our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ, we will be forgiven and able to see God again after we die. Show more Show less
