Hi I'm Alexis

I love to dance, be outside, y yo hablo espanol. I'm currently serving a mission in Tempe Arizona. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Most people are the athletic type, or the artsy type, or the outdoor-type, but classifying me as one of these is just..impossible. I absolutely love music and dancing, but love to throw a football around or throw some tricks on a trampoline. I love hiking and camping and being in nature, but I also love a good shopping trip with my friends. I really enjoy learning about other cultures, too. The idea that something completely abnormal to me is something that is an everyday part of life to another, is the coolest thing to me. I also enjoy speaking French and Spanish. My family means the world to me, and it's there that I find my closest friends. I have seven siblings and awesome parents that keep our house at a constant "organized chaos", which is how we all like it. :) My friends outside of my family play a big role in my life, too. But my all-time best friend is my Savior. I have really big hopes for my future like traveling the world, raising a family, and if possible cure a disease. Currently, I am serving a mission in Tempe, Arizona speaking Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

From the outsider's view, I'm a Mormon because my family is. I got baptized when I was eight, then only joining because it's what I had always known and my family seemed pretty happy because of it, so I was thinking why not? As I've grown older, I've discovered, I guess, why I've stayed Mormon. So, I'm a Mormon, because it provides me with a stability that I don't believe anything else can offer. Sure, they're still imperfect Mormons, but the principles that the both the Book of Mormon and Bible teach ARE perfect and there for you ALL THE TIME. It's amazing that however many times you mess up, you can always look back and realize that you were the one letting God down, and not God letting you down. I'm a Mormon because I believe that God still loves His people and just as in New Testament times, He has a church set up for us, with prophets and apostles, and still Christ leads it today. Being a Mormon makes me the happiest and nothing else that I've found has made me happier and that's why I'm Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the small things. I try to smile at people when I walk by, be aware of when people need help, and pray with faith that I can do the things that Christ would do if He were on this Earth. The biggest thing in my life that signifies how I live my faith is that I will be serving in the Arizona Tempe Mission this summer teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to God's children. Some people think missions are just for developing countries who can't afford to purify their water, but I know that no matter how comfortable you are living, WE ALL NEED GOD. We are nothing without Him, and everything with Him. I truly believe this-- so I will leaving behind distractions of relationships, non-religious music and media, a job, school, and all clubs and activities I'm involved with to completely immerse myself in serving others. A mission is hard, and there's a lot of sacrifice-- but this is how I live my faith. I have faith that He will bless me for my service and sacrifice and so I will live NOW in a way that will show Him that I love and believe in Him.
