Hi I'm Karla Garcia

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am a commercial banker.

About Me

I am a mid level career women in the banking industry. I have two wonderful grown children, a boy and a girl, one married with a daughter. I was raised by a faithful Christian woman and have never doubted the existence of God but had so many unanswered questions. My life was filled with struggles, some out of my control and some of my own doing. We had alcoholism, anger issues, physical and emotional abuse, drug addictions, divorce, a tragic death, unhealthy relationships and low self esteem issues. As a young adult faced with so much hurt and confusion I decided to go back to church, but knew I did not have the fulfillment in my birth religion. I decided to go to a different church every Sunday until I found where I felt that I fit. After many attempts, I got a ride home from a co-worker who was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He explained the basic beliefs. Those that particularly touched me were the belief in our eternal existence as individuals, as well as families, the identity of God and the innocence of children. The feelings I had during this conversation were ones of recollection, comfort and familiarity. I think I knew at that moment I was home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because with all the years of my investigating I have never come across a situation where the puzzle pieces do not fit. Instead of confusion, I find peace. I have found answers to the majority of my questions. Above all, I have felt the overwhelming power of the Holy Ghost confirm these truths to me in my life. The Holy Ghost is indeed the testifier of truth, the testifier of light and knowledge, the testifier of Christ.

How I live my faith

Religion is how one lives their day to day life. I try to live each day as an example to those around me, exhibiting my love for Jesus Christ by loving my neighbors and serving them. I am on the board of our local chamber of commerce and many of the committees therein. I am also involved in our community emergency response team, I have started some networking groups, chaired a government affairs committee, and help to teach those who are interested in learning more about the Church of Jesus Christ. Life is difficult. I know this only too well in my own life. Without faith in the hope that Jesus Christ gives me I would not know how to carry on. I openly share that belief with others that they too may know where to find the only peace that passeth all understanding.
