Hi I'm Laura.

I'm a mother of five boys and one girl, and wife of a great husband. I am the oldest of 6 children, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served an LDS mission after 3 years in college. I learned to speak Thai and love the nation, culture, and people of Thailand. When I came home, I finished my bachelors degree and met the man who I later married. We have 6 beautiful children (6-20 years old) and have had many adventures raising them and trying to teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ. I currently volunteer in my children's Parent-Teacher Organization and work at their elementary school.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was 5 years old. I was baptized at 8. However, my parents divorced and many of my siblings have fallen away from the church. I attended seminary in high school, and consider that to be the beginnings of my personal testimony. The things I learned there helped me through many difficult times during my high school years, and helped me truly love the scriptures and begin to rely on them and the power of prayer.

How I live my faith

I serve in our ward primary organization currently. Because I have 5 boys, I have been active in cub scouts. I work in my children's school parent teacher organization and school site council with other parents who are trying to improve the educational environment in our schools. I love the associations I have with so many good people in our community. I have recently also gotten a job at my children's elementary school where I have developed many close friendships. I love the chance to share my beliefs with others.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Laura.
We can get nowhere eternally without the grace of God and Jesus Christ. We must do our part, but it will never be enough. We all need Jesus Christ to return to live with God. Without His grace, we would neither be resurrected nor be forgiven of our sins (however large or seemingly small they may be). Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Laura.
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that we are all brothers and sisters since we are children of God. As such, we believe we should be kind to all and serve others as Christ taught while he lived on the earth. We try to be true disciples of Christ by treating others as He would. Show more Show less
