Hi I'm Mattie

I was born in MA. I am 17 years old. I am an apprentice with the Portland Ballet Company, Portland, Maine and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mattie and I'm 17 years old. I am a dancer. I started dance when I was three and loved it so much I continued doing it. I have experienced many different kinds of dance such as modern, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, ballet and ballroom. Currently I just dance ballet as an apprentice to the ballet company I dance for where I live. I am graduating this year and will be attending BYU-I in the fall which I'm very excited for. I have two older brothers and three super awesome cats. Besides dancing I really enjoy spending time with friends and going to mutual and doing service, especially serving in the Soup Kitchen. Those are the best. So many cool people. Oh, I also really love chocolate.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in an LDS family and find it hard to picture my life differently. I look at my life and how different it is compared to my friends' life and just think how wonderful of a blessing it is that I was born into a great family who has the Gospel. The thing I love most about this Gospel is the Plan of Salvation or the Plan of Happiness. It teaches that there is life after death and that is so comforting to me to know that. I'm Mormon because it truly makes me happy and because I know it is the true church of God. I love being different and standing out and not following the crowd. People notice you more and seek you out. Even though I get made fun of for the standards I uphold, I appreciate them so much because they keep me clean and safe. Also Mormon boys are really cute.

How I live my faith

Every weekday morning I get up at 5am and get ready for my first class of the day....seminary. Even though it's really early and I love sleep, I get up anyway because I love seminary even more. It's the perfect start to my day and gives me the spiritual boost I need to get through school. I honestly love going to church on Sunday. It's the best three hours I spend that whole day. Making sure I partake of the sacrament and attend my classes is very important to me. I always have fun at church no matter what. Every Tuesday night the youth get together at the church and plan activities, anything from doing service, to cooking to playing games or in the summer we like to go and get ice cream and sit and talk to each other about school and what's going on in our lives.
