Hi I'm Larry

a devouted husband, father of 4 and grandfather of 4 and yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work as an optometrist in a busy private practice. I've been married to my sweetheart for over 25 years and enjoy family. I love my 4 little grandchildren and get to see them often. I'm a past president and active member of our local Kiwanis Club, devoted to helping improve the lives of children around the world. I currently serve on my local hospital's board of trustees. I enjoy photography as well as all the new computer technologies. Recently my wife and I took up fly fishing and are even known to occasionally catch a fish! We enjoy 4 wheeler adventures into the back country of our local mountains. We enjoy trips abroad- Cancun is an especially nice place to go during those cold Utah winters. My dream trip will be to go to the Holy Land, but our next adventure will probably be to Thailand and Portugal to see our missionary sons.

Why I am a Mormon

The LDS church just makes sense to me, but that is not why I'm still a member. The Lord said that he is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He also said that he is the same yesterday, today and forever. The Old Testament is full of prophets which preceded Christ- it was through prophets that God conducted his affairs on earth. Christ came as not just a prophet, but as God's only begotten Son to provide the great Atoning sacrifice for all mankind. Upon leaving, Christ put Peter in charge as the new prophet to conduct His affairs on the earth. There have been periods of earth history when the people wouldn't listen to prophets. These were dark times. Thankfully, restorations of His gospel have taken place. We are beneficiaries of one of those restorations. Even though for me it just all makes sense, the real reason I'm a member is because through study and prayer the Holy Ghost has witnessed in my heart and soul that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS/ Mormon) is true. I am eternally grateful for that witness. The LDS church makes good people better as they learn to serve the Savior of Mankind. It has worked for my family and I'm convinced it will work for yours.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in many different church positions. As a young man, I learned Flemish and spent 2 years preaching the gospel in Belgium. Since that time I continue to have assignments in spreading the gospel. I currently help the full time missionaries coordinate their work in my area. I have taught Sunday School classes that have included young people ranging in age from 11-19. I have also had the opportunity to teach classes for adults. My faith makes me want to be more like the Savior. As such, I try to lead a balanced life. I try my best to be a good example to those around me. I married a woman many years ago that also loves the Savior. She learned Spanish and served the people of Southern Texas. She continues to serve others both in the church and out. My eldest son served a mission in Orlando, Florida. Most recently my two youngest sons have accepted 2 year mission calls to Bangkok, Thailand & Lisbon, Portugal. They are nervous about learning new languages, but excited to serve the Lord. My daughter married a young man who served as a missionary in El Salvador. The Savior and His gospel have empowered my family and those around us. The gospel has made us all want to become closer to Jesus Christ. We not only confess Christ, but we want to follow him in deed and in word. Despite my weaknesses, I try to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.
