Hi I'm Kayty

I love being with my family, going on adventures, and walking in the rain. I'm a wife, a mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a beautiful area of Northern B.C, Canada. I was raised on a quarter section of land (trees, hills, creek, rocks, sand, mud, etc) and as such, I absolutely love being outside. I am the third of six children (1 boy followed by 5 girls). I am very close with my family. I started playing the violin when I was 7 or 8. Music was always an important part of my childhood. After I graduated High School, I volunteered to teach children English for a semester in Russia. It was an amazing experience. When I got back home, I worked to save money to go to school. During this time, I met a boy who one day would become my husband. I did a year of my Bachelor of Science degree and realized that I didn't know where I wanted to go with it. So, I completed a program at a technical school to become a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist (CLXT) and worked as a CLXT at various hospitals. I am now married to my best friend and together we have welcomed into the world a little boy and, 19 months later, a little girl. Life is an exciting journey!

Why I am a Mormon

Simply put, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it makes me happy. Despite what may be going on around me, I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and that I have a Savior. Just knowing this helps me to have the right perspective and recognize the things in life that truly matter. Knowing that I am personally and individually loved by our Heavenly Father and that He hears our prayers provides me with confidence to recognize my individual potential and strive to be a better person everyday. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a gospel of love, service, charity and forgiveness. It teaches us how to be like Christ, which is what being Christian is all about. Life is not easy, and it's not meant to be easy. The gospel helps me to endure and learn from my trials and accept the things that happen in my life. I know that our Heavenly Father's hand is always stretched out to us. All we need to do is reach up and he will lift us. I know this is true. I feel so fortunate to know the things that I know - that prayer works, that I am loved no matter what, that death is certainly not the end, that my life has a purpose, and that I know who I am.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church each week, by upholding high moral standards, and by striving to be like Jesus Christ. I currently teach five and six year old children at church. They are so much fun and they teach me by their examples of purity and genuine love. Being a member of this church is so much more than going to church on Sundays. It is a lifestyle. My husband and I have family night once a week and we read from the scriptures and pray together each night. I try to be a good example to those around me. I want others to know by the way I live that I am a Christian and that I am happy because I live by the standards that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints provides. I know I will grow in happiness and as an individual as I continue to live my faith.
