Hi I'm Kevin

I grew up in Los Angeles, California. I am an emergency medical technician and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student, a full time employee, and a fiance. I love to watch movies and enjoy the company of family and friends. I love to help others and have spent much of my life learning ways that I can do that.

Why I am a Mormon

Many years ago as a senior in high school I met a girl that was Mormon. I grew up very active in the Catholic faith and knew very little about what Mormons believe. Through some of the trials of high school we became very close friends. One day, after school and while sitting outside a friends house, she decided to share her belief in Heavenly Father with me. Knowing that I had been wondering if there was a true church of Christ on the Earth, she bore a sweet testimony of the reality of the true and living gospel on the Earth today. She told me of a young boy, Joseph Smith Jr., who had wondered the same thing I was. She explained that he read the scriptures (James !:5-6) and prayed to know the truth. Then she shared how Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him and called him as a prophet. When I heard that testimony, I felt it to be true. I then began to investigate and practice the beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and gained the same surety as her that Heavenly Father has restored His Church to the Earth in our day. The Gospel and Church have blessed my life in many ways. I now hold the Priesthood and have been able to serve others. I have the opportunity to be with my family for eternity because of that restored priesthood authority. I am a Mormon because I put it to the test and found that it is the true Church of Christ. I received a spiritual witness that this is true. I have gained a personal and meaningful relationship with my Father in Heaven and have come to understand more fully, the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church I have had the opportunity to serve as a full time missionary for two years. I have had opportunities in my own congregation to teach sunday school, instruct priesthood meetings, and give talks during sunday meetings. I have had the opportunity to be part of a choir and enjoy uplifting music. I have had the opportunity to learn from others testimonies and thoughts on the gospel. Through my responsibilities in the Church and through other people, I have been able to continually grow in my faith and come to a sure understanding of who I am, why I am here, and where I am going after I die.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tithing is a principal which requires all members of the Church to give 10% of their earnings to the Lord. This money is used to fund construction of temples, chapels and other church buildings as well as the missionary program. Other Church programs are funded through tithing as well such as, our sunday manuals, and the entire Church Education System. This principal was instituted as an act of faith, we support the Church and in essence the furthering of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we pay an honest tithe. The Lord promises us blessings that are innumerable for paying our tithing. Show more Show less
