Hi I'm Debbie Murray

I'm a librarian. I'm a wife and mother of many sons. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California, but I now reside in beautiful Colorado. I love the outdoors and I am so grateful for my daily view of the magnificent Rocky Mountains to the west. As I gaze at the mountains, I am reminded of God's majesty in all his creations. I am married to my college sweetheart and we have four sons. My family is very important to me and I spend much of my time in their service, mostly cooking! I love spending time and talking with my children. They bless my life each day with their humor, their energy, and their growth as human beings. I work as a part-time librarian in my younger sons' school. I have always loved books, since the time I was very little. One of my fondest memories as a child, was going to the library with my mother and stacking up huge piles of books to bring home. I have lived through many adventures in books. I am a witness to many great truths, those universal ideas of sacrifice and honor that echo our Heavenly Father's gospel through literature, and for this I am very grateful.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are converts. My mother joined the church after being a member of the Luthern faith. My father joined the church the year I was born. I grew up in the instruction and love of a good ward and I understood then as I do now the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ. Some people find all the rules and commandments of the church to be restricting - I find they set me free. I am freed from the sorrow and difficulty that comes from sin or those worldly situations that cause additional stress. I choose to be a member of the LDS church as an adult because I believe in the Savior, Jesus Christ. I know He lives and cares for me. I have felt this truth so strongly throughout my life. I have a testimony of Him and His divinity. He is the Son of God and He died that I might life. I love Him and it is my joy to think of Him, learn of His gospel through the scriptures, and serve Him by helping my brothers and sisters on this earth.

How I live my faith

I teach eight year old children the scriptures in sunday school. These bright little minds are a joy to be around. I love their enthusiasm. I try to model Christlike behavior at school, while I teach in the library there. I talk to the kids of general principles, like honesty and kindness that are familiar to all faiths and help society in general. I try to exude love to those around me. In my home, I promote family prayer and weekly family meetings where we dicuss topics like faith in Jesus Christ, respect, kindness to all of God's children, and many other topics. Currently, my two older sons, my husband and I are all participating in a scripture readying program where we will read the Book of Mormon in 90 days. I have never read the Book of Mormon in such a concentrated manner, but I am really enjoying the experience. It is my personal goal to live in such a manner that others might feel such a feeling of love from me that they too will want to know the Savior as I do.
