Hi I'm Bert Anzini

I live in Surprise, Arizona. I am a husband and father of three. I'm a SWAT cop, a recreational triathlete, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for six years. We have two boys, Bert and Colt, and recently welcomed home our daughter, Gwendalyn. I have been a police officer for 7 years for a city in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. I am currently a public information officer for my Department and the sergeant of our tactical team (SWAT). I am a student taking online classes at Northern Arizona University to finish a degree in public management. I am also a recreational triathlete training to complete my first Ironman. I will be racing in Ironman St. George on Saturday, May 5. Triathlon is a great way to remain physically fit for my job and life in general. It also provides a great sense of accomplishment when you finish or perform well. Whenever I find the time, I also enjoy playing the guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the church when I was 19 year old. I was a member of a different faith through the tradition of my family. Growing up in the different faith, we attended church less than occasionally. During high school, I became very curious about religion and began reading the Bible to learn more about God. I knew I believed in God and Jesus Christ but did not know how to go about determining which christian church I should attend. I attended several churches belonging to various christian denominations before I asked a mormon friend if I could go to church with him one day. I eventually went to church with him and continued going ever since. I could feel something tangible as I was in Church that day and did not know what it was. I did know that I wanted to experience that feeling again and this desire motivated me to continue coming back. I was baptized two years later after going to church nearly every Sunday. Two years later, I left home, school and a girlfriend to serve a mission for the church in Ontario, Canada. When I came home, I married that girlfriend and began my career as a police officer.

How I live my faith

Getting three children fed and dressed to attend church on Sunday can be difficult task and requires both patience and a little bit of faith. Once my family and I are at church, we help our children be reverent so we can participate in the service by singing the hymns and listening to the speakers. I have recently been given the responsibility of leading the 12 and 13 year old boys. This has made me learn about the Boy Scouts of America program which I did not get to do as a youth. It's fun helping the boys learn responsibility and skills but it can be challenging at times to keep 12 and 13 year old kids focused on the task at hand.
