Hi I'm Jacob

I'm from Michigan. I just returned from my missionary service in Barcelona Spain. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Michigan. Some things I like to do are play basketball, rugby, and football. I like to go to the gym and exercise. Also, I enjoy playing the piano, watching a movie, and crashing on the couch. I will soon be returning to college for the spring and summer and am applying for the business finance program.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was baptized into the church when I was eight years old. My parents and their parents and their parents have all been members. Whats interesting though is that even though we have generations who are apart of this church, I have had to find out for myself if it is true. When I was about fifteen years old, I receive the challenge to read the Book of Mormon. It was the first time I had actually read the Book of Mormon on my own. As I finished reading the Book of Mormon, I said a prayer and asked if it is true. As I prayed, I felt great peaceful, comforting feeling; I felt completely full of a peaceful love. As I felt this, I felt and knew that the Book of Mormon was true. It was the first time in my life that I really felt God guiding me. It was an answer from God and it showed me that he loved me. I have had similar experiences since then that have confirmed my testimony of the church, of the prophet and of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Well just days ago I returned from my service as a full time missionary for the church. As a missionary, daily I would wake up, study the scriptures, and then go out and teach people about the gospel of Jesus Christ. We tried to help people find God and come closer to him. We also spent many hours doing physical service in many different forms. It was the most enjoyable experience of my life as all my time and attention was focused on helping others. As I have returned, now much of my time goes to helping my family and my community. I try to spend a couple hours each day with my siblings and my parents to show them the'yre important to me. I also continue to have my early morning studies of the scriptures, and try and get out and do service. I go to church each sunday and take part in whatever they ask of me. Last week, I taught the young men about how to prepare for a mission, and this week I will teach the twelve year olds about the Book of Mormon.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

They are not in any form obligated. They are encouraged and reminded of the invitation that Christ gave to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations." (Matthew 28:19) but each member has there freedom to decide if he or she goes. Before my mission, I really never questioned whether to go or not. After receiving an answer to my prayers that this Gospel is true, I felt so happy. And this happiness, I wanted to share with others. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries are there to help you come closer to Christ. As I was a missionary, we would explain God's plan for us and his love for us. We would explain the many different ways God has reached out in love, such as with our families, through Jesus Christ, through prophets, through commandments etc. All these things help us live happier here on earth and prepare us to return to Him. They are like guides but really its up to you to really ponder and decide if it is for you. Show more Show less
