Hi I'm Lara

I grew up on a ranch in Texas. I am a physicist and mom to 3 beautiful boys. I'm married to my best friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a part of nature. I have a huge organic garden, and I raise Americauna chickens. Teaching my 3 young sons to love and appreciate nature is a great joy for me. I love to cook, sew, and tackle DIY projects around my home. I taught high school physics for many years before being blessed to having the opportunity to stay home to raise my boys. I love watching them learn and discover! Little children are the best little scientists. I am happily married to my best friend. Heavenly Father has truly blessed me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with little mention of God in my home. My parents are wonderful people, but they were not religious. As a teenager, I attended a Baptist church with friends. I began to learn and question. I wanted to know my Heavenly Father, but I never felt like I was finding the whole truth. As an adult, I fell out of the routine of going to church. Later, when I met my husband-to-be, he shared with me that he had become a Mormon. I was intrigued when he shared his testimony with me, and I began to read and learn more. As a young person, I was troubled by the different Christian churches. Like Joseph Smith, I wondered who was right. Through independent study, I learned how the church had been deeply affected by political and social turmoil. That left me feeling even less impressed with the modern churches. When I began talking to the missionaries and learning about the Restoration, I felt like the doors of heaven had opened wide for me. I knew right away that I had found the answer. Praying for the truth to be revealed, it was. Christ's church has been restored on earth as He created it. This is how He wants us to live.

How I live my faith

"Charity never faileth." Charity is something that we all can give to each other. I am so happy to serve my ward in any way that I can. From helping provide meals and comfort to grieving families to using my writing experience in my Public Affairs calling, there is always an opportunity to be a blessing to someone. I enjoy feeding our missionaries home-cooked meals and giving them an evening of family life that they are missing while being away from their own homes. I help other ladies in the church make quilts for those in need. I write a quarterly newsletter for my church and organize bulletin boards in the church.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was chosen by Heavenly Father to restore His Church. Mormons recognize what a special privilege that was, but we only worship our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
