Hi I'm Caitlin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student finishing up my Bachelors degree in Liguistics. I have lived mostly in Utah and Idaho, but have also spent a few years in Colorado, Arizona, and Connecticut, either going to school or working. I love the outdoors; camping, gardening or just hanging out with friends and family. I also love languages, I have studied Spanish, French, German, American Sign Language and will be learning Arabic starting this summer. I have a fun large and very close family. We get together for family dinners and "kid nights" to hang out and have fun together. I also love History, Government and Military history. I have great respect for members of the military, and am incredibly grateful to live in the United States of America. I hope to go into Middle Eastern Studies, focusing on Languages, Religions and International Relations. I also love reading, mostly history and some fiction (Harry Potter, Jane Austen, David McCollough, books on past wars and biographies of people I admire.) That's me in a (rather large) nutshell.

Why I am a Mormon

I started this life as a mormon. I was born into a mormon home, which I am grateful for. I have worked hard to stay strong and follow the gospel all my life. My testimony wasn't a lightbulb which popped on and voila there it was. It has come from years of experiences, trials, and lessons learned. I have come to know that my Heavenly Father knows me personally and wants me to have the most joyful, fulfilled and meaningful life I can have. For this to be, all I have to do is follow the teachings of the church. They may seem restrictive to some, we have a lot of rules to live by. I see them as protection, not restriction. I have never had the heartache of knowing I've done things wrong due to consumption of alcohol or drugs. The church encourages healthy, active, and happy living, full of family, learning and experiencing many things throughout life. I know that by living the standards of the church my life will be blessed! I will accomplish all those things that are good and right for me if I continue to obey the teachings of the church. I know that when I do make mistakes or do stupid things, that it isn't over. Through prayer, scripture study and fervent repentance all sins can be forgiven, Jesus Christ has already paid the price. My Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ love me, and every other person on the earth, and want whats best for all of us.

How I live my faith

In my church I am involved in the leadership of the women's organization, the Relief Society. In this position I arrange teachers to teach the women and help out with the other reponsibilities and activities of the Relief Society. I am also a visiting teacher, which means a partner and I personally visit a few women from the church each month to teach a short, gospel lesson to them, and then to offer help where needed or to give support when needed. In this position we also are willing to help out the families of these women, to make life easier any way we can and lighten their burdens whenever we can. One of my favorite ways that I live my faith is through a program called 'Institute'. It is a program for Young Adults ages 18-30. I go to religious classes during my school day while I'm attending college courses. There are hundreds of other students and working young adults that attend as well and we have a great time in classes and at activities. We invite all men and women between these ages to participate in classes, activities, lunches on Fridays and anything else that mught be going on either at the Institute or in the church itself. I would have to say that I live my faith the most by just trying very hard to live a life that follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. I try to be a geniune friend to everyone I meet, regardless of any outward appearance. I try to be honest in all that I do. And I try to live in a way that would be pleasing to my Heavenly Father, by following all His teachings and commandments.
