Hi I'm Kenny Schoemig

I grew up in Utah. I'm a black belt. I love football and rugby. My parents are deaf. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have wanted to go on a mission since I was a little boy and now I am one! I love to watch and play football and rugby. I am also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I played 3 years of football in high school and then helped coach my high school to it's first ever state championship in the sport. My rugby team competed for the national title, but lost in the championship game. In Tae Kwon Do I have been to many tournaments, with the biggest being in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I think that in competition you can really bring out the best of yourself and become better than what you were before. My parents are deaf, so that makes me a Child of Deaf Adults, or a CODA. I grew up having a hard time communicating with my parents until high school, when I realized that I wanted to get to know my parents better. So I took some classes and improved a ton! Now on my mission I get to sign all day and help others come unto Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who are both members of the Church, but that's not why I'm a Mormon, although they certainly had influence on me. One day when I was twelve, I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I felt the Spirit so strongly and broke down and cried. I knew then that the Church was true, and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. My testimony has continued to grow as I have continued to pray and follow God's commandments. I chose to serve a mission because I want to share the light and happiness I have received with others. Helping others become guilt-free and truly happy in their lives is what I want to do with my life. I know with a surety that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored upon this earth. I know that God's authority is upon this earth, and we have a been given a prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I know that we can become clean and return to the presence of God after we die through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a missionary to help bring the world His truth. I try my best in each ward or branch (congregation) I have served in to be a blessing to those around me. I believe I have been called to serve in the best mission in the whole world, the Washington DC area. The unique blend of people from all walks of life help me to truly live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be an example to all those I come in contact with. Being a missionary is not something I would do unless I knew it was what the Lord wanted from me and I knew that I was teaching about the Restoration of His church. I love to be able to talk to people who are particularly having a hard time in life; those who are weary from the burdens of the world and think they can't go on. The message I share is one of peace and love which relieves those burdens and comforts those that need it. I try to live my faith by following Christ's example in all I say and do, and even though I'm not perfect and I do struggle and have my downfalls, I know through Christ's mercy and grace I can become the best I can be.
