Hi I'm Shelia

I was born in the south and love being mamaw to my seven (and counting) grandbabies. I'm a tour guide. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have five beautiful grown children. I was divorced after twenty plus years of marriage, a most difficult time in my life, but I also felt the sustaining power of the Lord. He is a loving and merciful Father, and with His help and the moments of peace that He offered, I was able to get through this great trial. I am now remarried and my husband is entering into the latter stages of a terminal cancer, but I know all is in the Lord's hands and with great trials come great blessings as well. On a lighter note, I drive our tour trolly ("train") here in our historic artist colony and get to meet a lot of people from all over the world. I love the area I live in and enjoy God's beautiful creations. I love to run and will soon run my second mini marathon. 13.1 baby. Been there. Done that. It is awesome. I also like to dabble in family history. The church has great tools and vast records in helping with geneology.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know this is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and it is just awesome. I was taught by the missionaries of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was seventeen. The Lord in His mercy and love gave me a powerful and unforgettable witness, through the Holy Spirit, as to the truthfulness of their teachings and the Book of Mormon. This was a sacred experience for me and I am so grateful to have the gospel in my life. It certainly put my life on a much different path and I've been able to raise my children with true principles. I have even been blessed with giving a son to the Lord's service, as he became a missionary for the church and served for two years. As families we only receive two phone calls a year along with emails or letters, but it is a privilege and a great blessing to have a son or daughter to serve the Lord in this way.

How I live my faith

I pray daily and read the scriptures. I have served in various callings in the church and currently teach the eight year olds in their Sunday class. It is great to see the young children so knowledgeable in gospel principles and striving to live them. I visit a few ladies on a regular basis to see if all is well and leave a gospel message. I attend church and partake of the sacrament weekly. This a special time to contemplate the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. I know that because of Him we can repent and return to Him and Heavenly Father. I know He has a plan, a way for us to return to Him and that family life is extented into the eternities.
