Hi I'm Makenzie

I'm from Utah! I am a cosmetologist, an Air Force wife, AND I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a small town girl who married a man from the big city! I love being married and being a wife, it is the best part of my life right now. We don't have any kids yet, but are excited to eventually start a family. I am also an Air Force wife. My husband joined right before we met and now I'm along for the ride. I am enjoying the military life so far and I am so proud to stand by my husband in his service to this country. Also, I am a cosmetologist. I love doing hair! I never wanted to do anything else except be a hair stylist and a mom. I also love the outdoors. Camping, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and spending time at my grandparent's cabin sitting out on the porch swing watching the hot air balloons on summer mornings or their horses in the evening. It's my favorite place to be. I love my family and love spending time with them more than anything. I also like to bake, read, be crafty, watch movies and play games! I'm not very athletic, but I enjoy watching my husband participate in sports and being at the sideline to cheer him on. I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love being a part of such an amazing organization and being involved in church activities, especially the Young Women program I currently serve in where I get to teach the 12-18 year old girls each week.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon church. I was baptized when I was 8 years old like many others also raised in the church. Little by little, piece by piece I have come to know for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (or the Mormon Church) is the true gospel of Jesus Christ on earth today. I feel it when I pray, when I'm at church, when I read the Book of Mormon, when I take time to ponder the beauty of the Earth, and when I serve others. I could never deny the testimony I have of my Savior. I have felt the sweet, calming reassurance of the Holy Spirit in my life way countless times. As I try to follow the example of Christ each day and pray for help and guidance, I continue to grow closer to Him and he blesses me in so many ways. I know he atoned for my sins the the sins of everyone who has ever lived and will yet live. He suffered and died on the cross of Calvery and was resurrected again that we might live! And that we may return to live with him again someday and have eternal life. I know that families can be together forever. I treasure my marriage to my husband in the Holy Temple. I know that if we live our lives as we should and keep the sacred covenants we made in the temple, we will be together for eternity. I know that God, our Heavenly Father, is aware of me. He is aware of all of His children. He knows us by name and loves us and wants to bless us if we will pray to Him. He WILL answer our prayers if we put our faith and trust in His plan for us and believe in Him. I continue to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ because of these things that I have come to know. The testimony I have of these things is so important to me. It gives me the strength I need to face the uncertainties of each day and the power and motivation I need to try to be better. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I serve in our ward at church in the Young Women program. I teach the girls ages 12-18 and I love it! We meet each sunday for an hour during church where we study the gospel principles and once a week for a couple hours in which we learn new things, do fun activies, service projects, etc. I very much enjoy spending time with these girls and helping them learn and grow. I learn a lot from them, too. I am also a visiting teacher. We have an organization called Relief Society for the women in the church and as a visiting teacher I, along with another woman, visit a handful of other women at least once each month. It helps us all get to know each other and provides us an opportunity to serve one another. There are 2 other women who come visit me as well. Most importantly, I live my faith through trying my best to be a good example of my Savior Jesus Christ.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Makenzie
Families can be together forever! Knowing that I can be with my husband forever and that we can be with our families and our future children is an enourmously great blessing and source of comfort in my life. I love my husband so much! He means everything to me. Because we were worthy and chose to be married in God's holy temple, if we live righteously, following the example of Jesus Christ, we will be with each other after this life. Together for all of eternity. Show more Show less
