Hi I'm Melissa Carver

I'm an outgoing, happy-go-lucky, caring, grateful and devoted Mormon.

About Me

I'm fairly new to the church, so some of my favorite things to do are fellowship with church members, learn as much as I can about the gospel and read the scriptures or LDS related books that help to strengthen my faith in the Lord. When my calendar is full of church-related events, I'm at my happiest. I also love to sew, cook, watch movies, go shopping, swimming (when it's warm enough) and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

As a faithless, recovering alcoholic, I was struggling with step 3 of the 12-step program; "Give your life and will over to God." I didn't know if I really believed in God, so how could I complete this step? I began searching for a religion that I could believe in; something that made sense. I started with Buddhism, and didn't find what I was looking for. While watching a TV show about Mormons, I was prompted to do some internet research to find out more about what they believed. After searching the LDS.org and Mormon.org websites, I decided to get a free Book of Mormon and Bible and see what this was all about. After my first meeting with the missionaries, I got on my knees and prayed to know the truth. I got chills and goose bumps and an overwhelming sensation of happiness and love. From then on, I knew this was the right choice for me. After 9 weeks of lessons with the missionaries, I was baptized. My baptism was the most amazing experience I have ever been through. There was so much love in the building that day, and so many people came out on a snowy, windy night to support me, there weren't even enough chairs!!! And right before I was submerged under the water, a member I had not gotten the chance to know very well yet was kneeling close to the font, with tears in her eyes, because of the joy she felt at seeing me baptized. That is something I will never forget.

How I live my faith

Since I am still new to the church, I am currently only visiting teaching two other sisters. I'm am also involved in institute classes where we are currently learning how to apply gospel principles to our lives to make us more productive citizens.
