Hi I'm Tessa

I'm from California. I write poetry and fiction. I'm going to college soon. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college freshman, going to BYU-Idaho. I love to write, and have even entered a few writing contests. I also love music, especially singing, though I'm usually too shy to sing in front of people. In high school, I participated in forensics (competitive speaking), drama, and Academic Decathlon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, but that didn't mean I accepted it without question. I wondered a lot when I was younger. One day, though, while working on a project about Joseph Smith, I received a feeling of peace and comfort that told me, this really is the true church of Christ. That was several years ago. I've had many rough times since, but I have always held to my knowledge, even when I couldn't feel in my heart that the gospel was true. My patience through those times did pay off, and the gospel and this church have brought such peace to my soul as I can barely describe, but I've become truly converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Once I turned 18 and left the church youth program, I was asked to help with the Sunday classes for 4 and 5 year old children. I also informally mentor a lot of people who struggle with problems spanning from addiction to family chaos. I try to give them the advice our Savior would give, though it isn't always easy. I have learned to rely on prayer in those situations beyond my normal understanding.
