Hi I'm Tyler John Barber

I'm a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm called to labor in the France Paris mission. I'm a mormon

About Me

I grew up in the church, but didn't have much of a testimony of anything but God and Jesus Christ. I soon fell away and was lost in complete confusion not knowing what was true. Eventually I would go to my Aunt's house for one summer and every time I would grudgingly go to church, but then one Sunday, at the end of sacrament meeting, I felt such a strong feeling that this is where I was supposed to be and that this church is true. Since then I have struggled much, but always was this Sunday in my mind that this is the true church. Although I knew it was true, my testimony had not yet lead me to serve a mission. I still felt like it was not something for me. But then, out of the blue, I got such a strong feeling that going on a mission is what I am called to do at this moment in my life. I had grown so close to my father in comparison to before that I didn't doubt and decided to start preparing. Eventually the day came to open my call and, to my complete surprise, I was called to the one place in the world that I have always wanted to go, but knew that I would never serve: France Paris. I had taken French in high school, and now wish that I could have paid more attention. I am now in the MTC, leaving in less than two weeks. I am so excited and I love the people of France so much already. I thank my loving Father in Heaven every day for this wonderful opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe in Christ and have accepted Him as my savior. I have been baptized into His church here on Earth and am serving Him on a full-time mission

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to do what Christ would do. I am now on a mission serving in the France Paris Mission and I love the people so much!!

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Tyler John Barber
We officially are not "Mormons," we are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The nickname comes from The Book of Mormon which was written by other prophets and was translated by Joseph Smith. The reason why we have the nickname is because no other religion uses this book so it is therefore a symbol to our religion, but not our name. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Tyler John Barber
If you think about authority and the importance of it in the world, you would understand why it is important. Think about a police officer, they have the authority to pull people over and arrest them, but if some random person tried pulling you over, would that be accepted? Show more Show less
