Hi I'm Matt Eden

I'm a student of Psychology, and I'm a mormon

About Me

I'm a 22 year old who loves the simple things, random road trips, spending time with friends, loving my dog, having a laugh and I love music with all my heart whether its punk, classical, dubstep, a cappella, or orchestral it's all good. I served a mission in Sydney Australia, and i am currently studying psychology at BYU in hopes of becoming either a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist. This is my first year here at BYU and so i don't know many people, as such i can tend to be a bit shy. But i guess that depends on my mood because other times i can be quite boisterous. I like getting to know people, not just whats on the surface but digging a bit deeper than that not just what it is that they do but why. One of my greatest goals in life is simply to be a good friend. I always have my friends needs priorities above my own. Wether they just need someone to talk to or a physical act of service. it's all the same to me. My parents are divorced and i have three older brothers. That has caused much difficulty and heart break over the course of my teenage years. It proven to be very difficult for me. I have also learned a great deal about how to relate to people because of it. I know that family is one of the most important things in the world, so to see it be torn apart is heart wrenching. But we can find happiness in the darkest of times. we can find joy in the little things, and thats why my faith, and my friends are so important to me, because they help me find joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i know that this Gospel is true, i took my time and i prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true, a simple answer came, peaceful reasurance that it was infact true. That was all that i needed. I know Joseph Smith was in fact a prophet, an innocent man that was fulfilling the will of God and God qualified him to restored his church, with all its priesthood authority. so that the re-established church could have the prophets and apostles that were found in the church during the meridian of time. BEcause i have a testimony of this simple truth i know that this is the right church, and being a part of it has given me greater happiness than any other thing found in this world. Nothing in this world has what my Heavenly father is just itching to give, so long as i remain worthy to receive it. that is why i am a mormon, because i only want to do what God wants me to do. He has told me this is the way to go.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do the will of God. Its a pretty simple thing. I read the scriptures and converse with Him through prayer. I try my best to share the message of gladness with those around me, and i obey the commandments. More so, i try to strengthen those around me, to help them keep the faith, and encourage them when they are going through a hard time, whether a mormon or not, because we're all God's children. And being a mormon, Buddist, Anglican, Catholic, Shinto, Muslim, Jew doesn't change that, and i try to do what Christ did, and treat them like my brother. I try to give service as much as i can, just a smile or a person to talk to. I try to show people the plan God has for them and that he loves them. I try to have a real relationship with heavenly Father. I'm not perfect, but i'm trying, and i know God knows that, and i belive that he's helping me become the best person i can possibly be.
