Hi I'm Spencer

I am Japanese-American. I'm a US Army doctor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the US military, and have lived all over the United States and even for 7 years in Japan. Now I am the father of four amazing children and a husband to my beautiful wife, and enjoy living in the sunny South in South Carolina. It feels like I have spent my entire life in school or training to be where I am in the medical field as a doctor, but I feel that the emphasis placed on education and hard work, along with independence by the LDS Church has served me well throughout my life. Now it is my turn to serve others.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the LDS church all of my life, but I needed to find out for myself whether I truly believed in the gospel and principles taught. This is not a religion that is easy to follow, and without the knowledge that I gained through personal study and prayer to my Heavenly Father I don't know if I would have continued to attend. My senior year of high school, I prayed to know whether the Book of Mormon was scripture, if Joseph Smith really saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and if this was the true church of Christ on the earth. The answer didn't come immediately, but after I showed my sincereity to know the truth I had my own witness given to me through the Holy Ghost. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that through Him I can return to live with Heavenly Father with my family that I love so much. The keys for this to happen rests in His church on earth, and I am happy to be a member of it.

How I live my faith

Aside from my own personal and family prayers, scripture study, and family nights, I am grateful for the many opportunities that I have to serve my fellow brothers and sisters here on earth. I have held many positions in the church over the years that have given me not only the opportunity to serve others but often the chance to learn and grow myself. I now teach the 8 year olds in Sunday School, lead the church Cub Scout Pack as its Cubmaster, and maintain the membership records. I have been asked to work in many other capacities in the past to include working with the youth (high school students), organist, adult Sunday School teacher, choir accompaniest, and many more. A special experience was to serve as a missionary for 2 years in Tokyo, Japan where I met and taught many people about Jesus Christ. Most had no knowledge of His life or teachings, and had never read the Holy Bible or Book of Mormon. Now I hope to share with many others the joy and happiness that Christ's teachings have given me.
