Hi I'm Tami

I grew up in western Kansas as a farmers daughter, driving a tractor as a teenager. Now I'm a mother of 7. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a farm town in western Kansas. My dad was a farmer and rancher. I drove a tractor as a teenager from sun up to sun down all summer. I went to college then served a mission for my church for 18 months in West Virginia. Then I married and had a daughter. She was 3 months old when my husband died of lupus. I thought no one would ever want me because I had been married. But I found a wonderful man who accepted me as I was, a widow with a child. We had 6 more children. I now live in California. I'm a grandmother and take care of my 94 year old father.

Why I am a Mormon

I was on sitting inside the cab of the wheat truck, one summer, waiting for the wheat to be harvested when I decided to read the Book of Mormon all the way through. When I finished I began to pray to ask if it was true. The Spirit spoke to my mind and told me, "You've always known it was true!" It's a feeling that has never left me. If the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith is a prophet and if he is a prophet of God, then this is the true church. The only one that is structured after Christ's church when he was on the earth. And the only one that has the authority to act in God's name. I feel it with every fiber of my being. I love being a Mormon!!!

How I live my faith

The main goal in my life is to return to my Heavenly Father and teach my children to do the same. Following the Lord's commandments helps me be happy! Some people believe it is restrictive to keep the commandments, to me, it is freedom. Freedom from addictions, freedom from doubt, freedom from the sorrows of sin. We study the scriptures daily as a family, pray as a family and go to church to worship as a family. I serve in the church by directing the choir, teaching the children to sing and help with boy scouts. The knowledge of the gospel gives me a life worth living! It allows me to develop new talents and serve in all kinds of ways. It brings me great joy!!!
