Hi I'm Tom

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mechanical Engineer and I design mines (copper, gold, silver...). I love playing sports, especially basketball and ultimate frisbee. I love spending time with my wife. We love to talk, go for walks, play sports (mainly tennis and ultimate frisbee) cooking, playing games. inviting friends over. reading... basically anything together. I love the outdoors (camping, hiking or just enjoying the wonders of nature.) I enjoy discovering how things work and solving problems. I like building stuff with my hands. I can play a little on the piano and am working to improve my musical skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out going because thats what my family did. But I soon started going because that was what I wanted to do. I first read the Book of Mormon all the way through when I was around 9. When I was around 12, I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon that year. I developed the habit of reading out of the scriptures every day. In jr. high and high school I started to notice that the days that I read out of the scriptures were just better days. I was happier and the days were just better. When I would forget to read, the days seemed longer and harder. I love to be happy. I have found that I am happiest when I am serving other people and when I am living the gospel of Jesus Christ. He really does want us to be happy and as we obey the commandments and do our best to follow Him, we will be happier. The more that I learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the plan our Heavenly Father has for us, the more everything makes sense. Im a Mormon because of who it helps me to be and the joy that it brings into my life.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others. It started when I was little and my dad would take us over to a widows house to mow the lawn or to help someone else that needed some help. I served as the president of the mens organization. My favorite part of this was reaching out to those that did not feel like they had many friends. I have also served as a clerk. In this, I kept track of membership and finances for the ward (the local church unit) I served a mission in Managua NIcaragua. One of my favorite things on my mission was teaching people a principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ and then seeing them apply it in their life and the blessings that followed. I pray and read from the scriptures daily. I love to help people smile and help them to be happier.
