Hi I'm Collette

I grew up in a loving family with 6 children and I liked it so much I had 7 children of my own. That's what I do! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to say that I attend the University of Life because I have not finished college but I have had so many experiences while raising my 7 children including 2 handicapped children. I have experienced the death of a child and survived having 6 girls. Or should I say my husband and 1 son have survived. Our family enjoys singing together whether its in church or around the kitchen table. I try to teach my children to love life as I do most of the time. Some of my fondest memories are of all of us singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" in 6 part harmony. No we were not always on key but that was the fun of it. I have directed several church and school musicals that my children were in and I love any opportunity to sing with them. As we are getting closer to an mostly empty nest I find myself a bit perplexed at what to do now. I am grateful that I was able to be a stay at home mother but now I have some extra time on my hands do some things for me. I have taken up tennis and I LOVE IT! However, when I spend lots of time playing I get to feeling like I should use my time more wisely in serving others. I hope our home is never completely empty because I really love the noise. I hope to one day serve a mission with my husband whom I love dearly.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so grateful to my parents for teaching me the principles of the Gospel. I am also grateful for the knowledge that "Families are Forever". I love my husband and my children but I also love my parents and siblings and I want to be with them forever too. This brings me comfort especially since I have lost a child and that knowledge is sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day. This gospel has given me a guide for how I want to live my life. The standards we can follow help make life so much easier to bear. They also help so much in raising children.

How I live my faith

I am serving in the youth program at church, mainly teaching the 14 and 15 year old girls. I have come to love these girls like my own, one of them actually is my youngest daughter. I do my best to help these girls know that God loves them and that they are special girls. I try to be a good example and teach them the wonderful standards and values the Lord has set for us. I also try to do what is right and be an example of Christlike living. Of course I fall short but the desire is there. I know that Jesus Christ died for us and set the example for us to follow here on earth. I am really trying to be that kind of example.
