Hi I'm Tom
I am a husband, father of six children, police officer, and a very happy man and I am a Mormon.
I love participating in sports, running, and exercising in general. My most favorite hobby is my family. I love being with my wife, children, and other family members. I love my job. I love serving others in all aspects of my life.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into a family where my parents were already members of the church. Although I was born into a family where my parents were members, I was encouraged to learn and pray to my Heavenly Father to learn of the truthfulness of the principles my parents and the church taught me. I have always been a good listener and I took advantage of that while I was growing up. I prayed often and studied the words of the Lord often. I received impressions and guidance from the Spirit of the Lord that helped me to understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I was in my late teenage years I felt a strong desire to know for sure if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true gospel of Jesus Christ. At about that time I was finishing reading the Book of Mormon and when I read Moroni's promise in the Book of Mormon (Moroni 10:3-5) I decided to go ahead and kneel down and pray to know if the Book of Mormon is true and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I received a strong witness that helped me to know that the Book of Mormon is true and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ. Since that experience it has been my earnest desire to continue to follow the principles of the gospel that I was taught and learned. I have tried my best to live the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the best of my ability. By living those principles to the best of my ability I have been blest with a lot of happiness in my life. I have a wonderful wife, wonderful children, and great friends.
How I live my faith
I try to live my Faith by trying to be a good example to others. I like to serve others as often as I can. The church encourages us to get involved in civic activities; they also provide service opportunities through service projects in our community. I am able to serve members of the church through a church program called Home teaching. This Home teaching program allows my son and me to visit with families and teach them, and help them. The church provides a youth program that helps my children to be around good people that desire to do what is right. They provide a guide for parents and youth called "For the Strength of Youth". This has helped my children, my wife, and I to have some direction on appropriate language, dress, music, etc. This prevents and resolves many arguments within our home. This allows our home to be a happier home without a lot of contention. The church also encourages us to date our wives weekly. Although I am not perfect in this, I do get to date my wife often and this has helped my wife and me to build a stronger relationship and love for each other. I can honestly say that my wife is my best friend and I love her more that words can express. The relationship my wife and I have built together is one that I know will last forever and not just for this life. This understanding of our eternal relationship gives me comfort in difficult times.
