Hi I'm David Elkins Rice

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I'm a Computer Programmer. I have a beautiful wife and three lovely girls. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a man of many interests. I love to fix things. I'm making a wooden clock with gears and other cool stuff like that. I enjoy needlework I am a petite pointer. My wife's grandfather was a lifelong petite pointer and I just love how it looks. It is quite mathematical and excellent to do while watching movies and tv. I fix my own car, including cleaning the egr ports. I had to take apart the engine and had parts all over my driveway. With the internet and good diagrams I think you could fix most anything. I love to cook and eat food from all over the World especially Asia. Kim Chee is one of the best things in the world. I love to record choirs. I have a mobile studio including 8 mics. I tune pianos. I graduated in Computer Science. I love life. We need to cherish every minute we have with each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I feel the Spirit of the Work often. I know the Book of Mormon is true because I have taken Moroni's promise and put it to the test. I read the book and prayed about it. The Spirit of God confirmed to me that it is true. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not the easy way to live life but it is the best way to live to be fulfilled. Many may feel that having restrictive rules about health (the Word of Wisdom) or about Chastity (abstinence before marriage and full fidelity after marriage) would keep one from living life. I disagree. It truly makes us free. In both cases you can become addicted and not have freedom. If you live the Word of Wisdom and a chase life you don't have to worry about such addictions. When we take the yoke of Christ upon us our burdens are made lighter. I love His Gospel and I love Him. I'm trying to be like Jesus every day.

How I live my faith

I am a member of the High Council in my Stake. This is a governing body for an Stake of about 10 wards. Each ward contains approximately 300 people. I am in charge of Family History and Temple work. I work with two rest homes. I attend their branch once a week on the Sabbath. On Tuesday I meet with the Branch Presidency where we discuss the needs of Branch members. I love being with the older people. I have always been friends with this group of people. It is a pleasure to meet with them and feel of the Spirit of the Lord. I think God has a special love for these people in the winter of their lives and he comforts them with His Love. I read my scriptures daily. I'm reading the Old Testament. I'm in the book of Judges right now. I want to complete reading by the end of this year. I pray morning and night with my family and on meals. Prayer and fasting is an important part of my life.
