Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in the back woods of Florida. I was raised to find the beauty in all things, in all people. I'm a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

If you asked my family one thing about me, they'd say my smile. It's big! Some say I was born smiling and I love to share it with others because it's contagious. I'm a mom of one beautiful daughter and two rascally boys. I can just as easily dig through the mud for worms as I can help my daughter do her hair all up. I guess that's because I grew up in the woods as a tomboy! I love fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and especially the beach! However, I also love to dress-up and dance the night away! I even met my husband at a dance! He is an amazing man who treasures his family. We strive everyday to teach our children the importance of family. I have a small business making jewelry, which I absolutely love doing. I enjoy all kinds of art actually, painting and making pottery, but jewelry will always be my first love! I love it because it is beautiful in itself and it is even more beautiful when someone puts it on and they feel beautiful...that's what really matters! That's me in a nutshell, I love to make people happy!

Why I am a Mormon

As a child I remember my Mom taking my sister and I to many different churches. It seemed like she'd get a bug in her bonnet and we'd go to a few for a time and then nothing. Then she'd start again. I didn't understand that she was searching for the truth. After a few years of this, we had an elderly missionary couple come to our door and ask to teach us the gospel. I was 10 years old and I remember soaking in every word they said. To me it was like a parched plant drinking in the water it had craved. I never questioned the truth of the gospel, I knew it was true. That was 28 years ago and I have never regretted my decision to be baptized. Now I'm not saying that I just soared through "teenagerdom" without any bumps in the road! But with the gospel and it's teachings, I knew who I was! I knew that God wasn't some scary, omnipotent being; who just stood back and watched us suffer here on Earth. I learned that he was a loving, kind, merciful Heavenly Father, MY Heavenly Father! Who provided in every possible way a path; whereby I could return safely back to him. Even to the extent of sacrificing his Son, my brother, to make this possible! I know without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ lives, that he suffered FOR ME, everything I will ever suffer, and that this is His Gospel restored to the Earth in it's entirety. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and that he has provided a way for me and my family to return to him and live together as an eternal family. What greater blessing or desire could I have?

How I live my faith

I love LIVING the gospel! Many of my friends ask how we are different in general. One of the biggest to me is that we/I live our religion EVERY day, not just on Sunday. I am the same everyday. I don't change my way of dressing, acting or speaking according to the people I'm with. I strive to live everyday as Christ did when he walked among us. I am honest in my dealings. I look for ways to serve others. I teach the principles He taught. They are simple! For example, The Golden Rule: Treat others as you would have them treat you. Work hard and do what is right. These are all things that we teach our children! But we have to teach by doing, not just saying! I currently have 3 "jobs" at church that I'm responsible for keeping up with. I love it! I make sure that I am prepared to help whenever there is a need. I love it when my daughter invites her friends to the youth activities. I was explaining to my hairdresser the other day that we have programs for babies through the adults, we don't leave anyone out! Because when you're busy serving someone else....you're too busy to worry about your own troubles!!
