Hi I'm Shawn

I've lived in the South my entire life. I'm a pianist and working on a masters in nursing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Georgia and South Carolina most of my life except during the 2 years I served a mission in Northern California. Growing up, I began learning to play the piano and have since developed a passion for music. That passion continued into college where I received a bachelor's degree in music with a concentration in piano. After having taught piano for a couple of years I decided to return to school for a masters degree in nursing.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon my entire life. Growing up I believed what I was taught simply because it came from my parents; however, there came a time in my life where I had to come to know for myself the truthfulness of the teachings taught in the Book of Mormon and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After prayerfully reading and studying the Book of Mormon, the Spirit witnessed to me it was true and that Joseph Smith translated it through the gift and power of God. As I continue to read the Book of Mormon, the Bible and other scriptures given by latter-day prophets, I continue to gain a greater testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ and am strengthened in my daily life.

How I live my faith

The biggest way I live my faith is to do the "small things" consistently everyday such as reading the scriptures, praying, striving to be more kind, loving and outgoing. In general, I try to live such that I can have the Spirit of the Lord direct my life. Another great thing that has helped me live my faith is serving in my local congregation. Through working with the youth and other members, I've learned the importance of service and how it not only benefits the people we serve but also helps bring us closer to Christ.
