Hi I'm Tom.

I'm from Maryland. I'm happily married. I'm a business student. I'm a St. Louis Cardinals fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was recently married in the Washington, D.C. temple, and I am now back at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I am studying business management with an emphasis in organizational behavior and human resources. Although I feel that business is the field I need to enter, my first love is history, and I am working as a Teacher's Assistant in the history department. My wife and I lived in St. Louis this last summer, and I am an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. I love all sports, reading biographies, and playing board/card games with my wife. I was blessed to serve as a full-time missionary in San Diego, California from 2010-2012.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, but that is not the sole reason as to why I'm a Mormon today. I do not do everything that I was taught growing up- I think my wife can attest to the fact that I still don't clean very well. I chose to continue being a Mormon because I have felt that it is the best possible way for me to live my life. I have felt that there is a God, and that He loves me. I have felt that He provided His Son, Jesus Christ, to enable you and to enable me to be able to find peace and happiness in this life and in the life to come. I have felt the healing and redemptive power of the Savior's Atonement in my life. I have felt that He called a prophet named Joseph Smith to establish a church again in these last days. I have felt the power of the priesthood bless my life and bless others. I have felt the power of ordinances and covenants in my life. Because I have felt (and continue to feel) these things, I can say with a surety that I KNOW that being a Mormon is the path that our Father in Heaven desires His children to take. I know that every single one of us can find out that exact same answer by studying and humbly seeking Him out in prayer.

How I live my faith

We read in the book of James in the New Testament that we should be "doers of the word, and not hearers only". I am certainly not a perfect person, but I try my hardest to live and take action on my faith every single day. I try to communicate with my Heavenly Father (through prayer) or let Him communicate to me (through his scriptures, such as the Bible and the Book of Mormon) on a daily basis. I attend weekly church meetings and strive to keep the Sabbath holy, even when this conflicts with other Sunday activities that draw my interest. My wife is (very patiently) guiding me to develop a greater capacity to be more Christlike- having meekness, gentleness, and charity towards other people. I try to think of others first and be willing to offer a helping hand to anyone. When I fall short of these goals, I do my best to rely on the Savior to make up for my mistakes and make me a better person every day.
